Rachel Helferd

Resident Services Director

Rachel Helferd serves as Resident Services Director, leading and developing the on-site Resident Services programs. She focuses on implementing comprehensive programs to actualize Somerset’s theory of change to enhance education, foster community building, promote healthy living, and ensure housing stability for residents. She builds partnerships with community organizations, non-profits and the public sector to supplement the resources that Somerset contributes to resident engagement and support services. Through strategic leadership and community engagement, Rachel contributes to the overall mission of enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Prior to joining Somerset in 2019, Rachel worked in homeless services throughout the Fairfax County region of Northern Virginia, starting in 2014. Rachel has completed Neighborworks America’s professional certificate program in the Foundations of Affordable Housing and has a Bachelor of Arts in Global Affairs from George Mason University.
