Rachel Helferd

Community Resources Manager

Rachel Helferd serves as Community Resources Manager, supporting the on-site Resident Resource teams on Somerset’s properties in providing and implementing programs in healthy living, food security, community building, arts and culture, education, training, scholarships, and employment. She identifies resources from community organizations, non-profits and the public sector to supplement the private capital that Somerset contributes to resident engagement and support services. Rachel monitors the implementation of programs and oversees the outcomes measurement across Somerset’s affordable communities in DC and Baltimore.

Prior to joining Somerset in 2019, Rachel worked in homeless services throughout the Fairfax County region of Northern Virginia, starting in 2014. Rachel has completed Neighborworks America’s professional certificate program in the Foundations of Affordable Housing and has a Bachelor of Arts in Global Affairs from George Mason University.
