Baltimore Unity Hall Receives Urban Lan Institute’s Baltimore Wavemaker Award for 2023

This year Somerset Development’s Baltimore Unity Hall was honored with a 2023 Baltimore Wavemaker Award from the Urban Lan Institute (ULI) in an awards ceremony held at the M&T Bank Exchange in Baltimore on October 4, 2023. Each year, ULI recognizes outstanding wavemaking real estate development projects, related programs, and visionaries in urban development. Winning projects were judged on each project’s overview, sense of place and quality, sustainability, visionary emulation qualities, and need.

Baltimore Unity Hall opened in June of 2022 in West Baltimore as a hub for job training, education and the arts. In a $10 million renovation project, a 1960s-era union hall was converted into a state-of-the-art 30,000-square-foot venue serving Bolton Hill, Madison Park, Upton and other Central West Baltimore communities. Unity Hall provides office, work, and event spaces at below-market rents for co-working, workforce development, non-profit and community organizations, community meetings, artist studios, art exhibits, music performances and other events.
